A "watchman's rattle" refers to a loud noise used to call a community together to face a threat. Sociobiologist Rebecca Costa researched and penned her book, "The Watchman's Rattle: A Radical New Theory of Collapse," over a six-year period, all the while examining the current situation of human development. Evolution of humans, she asserts, is moving more slowly than the evolution of societies, creating a kind of "gridlock" of ideas. Using neuroscience as a gateway, Costa offers some ideas on clearing up the gridlock.
