Santa Monica, California – The Santa Monica Public Library presents a special author talk with Rebecca D. Costa, in support of her critically acclaimed new book The Watchman's Rattle, on Wednesday, November 10, 2010, at 7:00 p.m., in the Main Library's Martin Luther King, Jr. Auditorium, 601 Santa Monica Blvd.
Recently spotlighted by CNN host Larry King as his book pick of the week and garnering praise from personalities such as E.O. Wilson, Tina Brown, Thom Hartmann and Temple Grandin, The Watchman's Rattle is a thought-provoking work in the vein of best-selling authors such as Malcolm Gladwell and Thomas Friedmann. In The Watchman's Rattle, Rebecca D. Costa examines our modern culture, and asks if, in the face of complex problems such as global warming, viral pandemics, catastrophic oil spills, and economic disasters, we can think ourselves out of crisis, gridlock and eventual extinction.
In her visit to Santa Monica, Ms. Costa will discuss issues raised by her book with a panel of guests including marine biologist and media personality Wallace J. Nichols, and others yet to be announced.
A book sale and signing will follow the panel discussion.
