Costa to host new Rattler Radio show

WEEKLY TALK SHOW TO BE HOSTED BY

AUTHOR AND THOUGHT LEADER

REBECCA D. COSTA ON HISTORIC AM 1240 KNRY

SAN JOSE, CA – November 16, 2010 – Central Coast-based author and thought leader, Rebecca D. Costa, and historic AM 1240 KNRY, announce the launch of a new weekly talk radio show - Rattler Radio – which will air each Friday at 2:00pm, beginning November 19, 2010, immediately following the Dr. Laura Program.

Each week Costa will offer commentary on the major issues of the week, and will interview a world-renowned authority and “rattler” focusing on small and large challenges society faces and what actions can be taken to solve our most perplexing problems.

“Our society is becoming more complex by the hour, and we all feel overwhelmed with the daunting task of solving daily problems,” said Costa.  “My goal is to offer KNRY listeners a new, more hopeful perspective by asking top experts from around the world what can be done.”

The show is inspired by Costa’s new book, The Watchman’s Rattle: Thinking Our Way Out of Extinction, which was released nationwide on October 12, and has been hailed as a must-read by such luminaries as Sir Richard Branson, Dr. Edward O. Wilson, Donald J. Trump, Bill Bradley and Temple Grandin.  Costa says a “Rattler” is any individual willing to sound that alarm.  Whether the threat comes in the form of terrorism, obesity, deteriorating education, nuclear proliferation, overfishing the oceans or climate change, Rattlers bring people together to overcome adversity and to effect long-lasting change.

“Ms. Costa’s credentials as a sociobiologist and futurist, along with her extremely impressive guests, will bring a fresh perspective to our airwaves,” said Jim Vossen, General Manager and Program Director at KNRY.  “This isn’t a show about who’s right and who’s wrong.  It is about creating a dialogue and looking for solutions, as opposed to laying blame and maintaining the status quo that continues to hold us in a downward spiral.”

Guests scheduled thus far include world-acclaimed marine biologist, and California Academy of Sciences Research Associate, Wallace J Nichols; human rights activist, President of Death Penalty Focus, and acclaimed actor best known for his role as B.J. Hunnicut on M*A*S*H, Mike Farrell; and best-selling author of Male Menopause and Irritable Male Syndrome, Jed Diamond.

(more)

Guests also include known activists such as award-winning actor, conservationist, and

former President of the Screen Actors Guild, Ed Asner; Executive Director of The Big

Sur Land Trust, and former Director of The Nature Conservancy, William Leahy;

and John Ross, Executive Editor of American Heritage and Invention & Technology magazines.

Each show will stream live via the KNRY website, at www.knry.com, and will also be available within 24 hours on Costa’s website, at www.rebeccacosta.com.  Future plans are in the works to expand the show into other markets, such as Seattle, Denver, Fresno and Santa Fe.
